Cadence Creek was started in 2005 by two ambitious entrepreneurs. The goal was to create a facility where people could enjoy horses in a safe and relaxed atmosphere. Thanks to the hard work of many individuals, countless hours of planning, building and dreaming, that goal has become reality.
Outgrowing the initial farm, Cadence Creek moved to its current location in September of 2007and began the building process. Since then, the business, facilities and staff has grown to where we're at today.
We are able to accommodate beginner riders (even those who have never touched a horse before) to the more advanced rider. Our Instructors are certified and are experienced teachers who are able to give you the horsey knowledge you deserve!
Staff
Caitlin Smith – Owner
Certified Level 2 English/Western Instructor through CHA.
Starting riding at a fairly young age, Caitlin has been bitten by “the horse bug” ever since!
Caitlin took the traditional route of trying a horseback riding summer camp and progressing into lessons. She took to riding quickly, which was a surprise as any other sports, hobbies or athletics she tried faded quickly. Horses became a form of therapy for her amidst the cruelties of her school years. Finally finding something she was good at and understood, her confidence and self esteem blossomed.
Showing for 7 years in her youth/ young adulthood, she had a chance to experience many different disciplines and sides of the horse industry. Her favorite discipline is definitely the hunters with western pleasure coming a close second. Caitlin not only has a passion for horses, but also for people. All of her dreams have come true in her career and business that allows her to combine those two passions into one.
Rob Davy – Owner
Growing up in Northampton, England, Rob had never touched a horse before meeting Caitlin. His passion and flair for seeing a business opportunity allowed Caitlin's vision of a riding stable to become reality. Rob is a talented web developer and site designer (www.robdavy.com), and as such, looks after and maintains Cadence Creek's websites. Rob also enjoys tinkering with construction and is actively involved in the building and maintaining of projects here at the farm.
Andra Irons – Barn and Programs Manager
Level 1 Coach – Saskatchewan Horse Federation
Joining the team in Spring of 2008, Andra brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the barn. Growing up in Pony Club in Saskatchewan, Andra was raised with the compassion for the horse as a whole, not just an animal that can be ridden. Andra passed her B2 level in Pony Club and was riding her A Levels before she moved on in her riding career. Her strong animal husbandry skills are carried over to our everyday tasks in the barn as well as into our students. Andra has had the opportunity to experience many sides of the industry as a barn manager, gallop girl at the race track up to being able to ride for National caliber riders. With an extensive career in the show ring, she hopes to start showing again in 2010 with her students to get back into the Hunter/Jumper rings. Andra joined us full time in July of 2009 and we're so glad to have her!
Steven Scott – On-site EMT & Completer of the “Honey Do.....” List
Steven joined the team in January of 2009. His experience in the medical field gives us piece of mind in knowing there is an advanced responder if there was ever a need (which there never has been!)
You will often find Steve around the farm fixing this or that or sometimes even helping with lessons when an extra set of hands is required. Steve also enjoys participating in his riding lessons and hopes to one day be a jumper! (Good thing Andra is here to help!)
Junior Staff
Karoline – Level 4
Karoline started riding with us during our first year of operation in 2006. She has not only grown as a rider, but as a young woman who wants to one day own a guest ranch, teach lessons, train horses and own lots and lots of horses with her sister. Karoline enjoys working with the students, shadowing Caitlin & Andra as they instruct and perfecting her own riding skills. Karoline helps with lessons, birthday parties, summer camps and general farm work.
Dominica – Level 4
Dominica also joined us in 2006 to learn how to ride. What started as just “something to do” has grown into a passion that has lead her to own her own horse and start showing. Dominica also wants to own a guest ranch with her sister, teach riding lessons and own lots and lots of horses when she's older. She enjoys especially working with the children here at the barn. Dominica helps with lessons, birthday parties, summer camps and general farm work.
Kaitie B. - Level 4
Kaitie joined us in Spring of 2008 with her horse, Sunshine. Kaitie is working towards one day becoming a trainer and rides both English and Western. With her easy going manner, Kaitie is an easily approachable resource for lesson and camp students for instruction. Kaitie helps with lessons, birthday parties and summer camps.
Jennifer – Level 3
You will find Jennifer around the barn frequently throughout the week. Joining us in 2007, Jennifer has gone from a beginner rider to a well deserved Level 3. Jennifer is a tacking assistant and is found behind the scenes helping lessons to run smoothly. She also helps with birthday parties and summer camps.
Emma - Level 4
Emma started her riding career as a young child and followed Caitlin through her travels finally landing with Cadence Creek. Emma is a Level 4 rider who is hoping to show in low hunters and hack classes. Emma can be found at the barn multiple times throughout the week being a tacking assistant. She also helps with birthday parties and summer camps.
